Sable at Yours

The Velvet Effect and Sable Chefs are giving one Cape Town host a dinner for ten at home, cooked in their kitchen by our chefs. These are the rules. They are short on purpose.

How to enter

Build the dinner you'd host at sablechefs.co.za/win: pick one of the six menus and your courses, tell us who's at the table and why, and give us your name, cell number, email and suburb. That's your entry. Every entry gets a table number on the board at sablechefs.co.za/table.
Follow all three accounts on Instagram: @the_velvet_effect, @sable_chefs and @sylk_crafts. We check the winners' follows on the live. A drawn table that isn't following all three is re-rolled.
Tag who's coming in the comments on the launch post. Optional, but that's how your friends find out.
Post your table card to your story and tag @sable_chefs, @the_velvet_effect and @sylk_crafts. Optional too, and we'll reshare as many as we can.

One entry per person. Build your table once; a second go with the same cell number or email just shows you the table you already have. Entries open Monday 13 October 2026 and close at 12:00 (noon) on Friday 17 October 2026. Free to enter, nothing to buy.

The prizes

First: a Sable Chefs dinner for up to ten guests at the winner's home, their choice of South African, Tapas, Mediterranean, Coastal, Japanese or Fine Dining. Five canapés, then a starter, main and dessert chosen from that menu. Chefs and crew included. Plus a SYLK set to keep: one platter, four plates and two bowls.
Second: a Sable Chefs dinner for up to six guests, same choice of menu, chefs and crew included.
Third: a SYLK Tasting Set.

Over R25,000 in prizes. Dietaries are catered as always. Guests beyond ten (first prize) or six (second prize) are charged at our standard per-head rate.

When and where the dinner happens

Any date from the draw to 31 October 2027, except Sundays, public holidays and the whole of December 2026.
Within 30 km of our kitchen in Epping, Cape Town. Further is at the winner's cost per our normal travel bands.
Booked at least 14 days ahead, subject to our availability. We'll offer alternatives if a date is taken.
The prize covers the food, the chefs and the crew. Everything else on the night is the host's, including the table and whatever is poured. Everything we cook is halaal.

The draw

Every valid entry is in the draw. The draw happens live on Instagram from @the_velvet_effect with @sable_chefs on Friday 17 October 2026 at 17:00, and plays at the same time on sablechefs.co.za/table. Three rounds: first prize, then second, then third. A drawn table is out of the following rounds. Each pick is a random selection from every eligible entry, logged with its time and outcome as it happens. When a table comes up we check that its owner follows all three accounts; if not, it's re-rolled on the spot. If a winner can't be reached within seven days or declines, that prize is drawn again.

What the winner agrees to

By accepting a dinner, the winner agrees that The Velvet Effect films and photographs it: the kitchen, the table, the food, and the host if they're happy to appear. We use that content on The Velvet Effect, Sable Chefs and SYLK channels and websites. Guests who don't want to be on camera aren't; hands and the table are always fair. The winner signs a short release before the date is booked. No release, no dinner, and it's drawn again.

The small print

Promoter. The Velvet Effect (Pty) Ltd, registration 2020/475174/07, Unit 4, Magnum Park, Bofors Circle, Epping, Cape Town. Sable Chefs and SYLK are its brands. No purchase is necessary.
Who can enter. Anyone 18 or over who lives in or near Cape Town. Employees of The Velvet Effect and their immediate families can't.
Your name on the board. Your first name and surname initial appear next to your table number only if you tick "show my name" when you enter. Untick it and the board shows a number and a menu.
Your data. We use what you give us to run this giveaway and, only if you tick the box, to send you one Sable offer after the draw. It's handled in line with POPIA and never sold. The entry records are kept for three years, which the Consumer Protection Act requires of promotional competitions.
Prizes. Not transferable, no cash alternative, not exchangeable for any other menu or service.
Instagram. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram. By entering you release Instagram from any liability.
General. We may amend these rules or cancel the promotion for reasons beyond our control, and we'll say so on the board if we do. Our decisions on the draw are final. Entering means you accept these rules.
